Recently in a church I was called over to minister to a man and his wife. I will call the guy Tom. First of all I asked Tom what did he want Jesus to do for him. He said that he was suffering from a lot of anxiety. I asked him how long he had been suffering this. Tom replied, ”since I was a young boy”.
I then I asked him was there something emotionally affecting him at the time that this started. He said “Yes...I had an overbearing mother”. Then I explained that Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever and that he could visit our “yesterdays” at whatever age was needed to bring freedom and healing.
Tom said that he wanted this to happen. I asked him to think, or to see himself,in his mind’s eye) as a young boy. Tom said that he was thinking of himself at aged 8yrs old. Then I directed Tom to think of a place in his house or outside that he liked to be. He said he was in his bedroom. Then I encouraged him with the verse in the bible “Here I am I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in. I will come in and eat with that person and they with me”.
I asked Tom if he would like to go to the door in his bedroom as that little boy and invite Jesus to come in and be with him.
Tom said he would. I waited a little while and encouraged Tom to speak to Jesus and tell him anything he wanted to. Also, I asked Jesus to speak to young Tom.
After another short while, I cupped my hands over Toms's ears and asked Jesus to set Tom free of every critical and negative word that his mother had spoken over him. I told the enemy to stop lying to Tom and broke the power of lies in Jesus’ name.
Then I asked Jesus to place everything that He had done on the cross between young Tom and his mother and set him free from her.
Then I placed my hands either side of Toms head and broke the power of fear in Jesus name. I asked Jesus to bring into balance Tom’s fight, flight, fear response that kicked into overdrive causing him anxiety.
Into my head came the word Shame. I asked Tom if he felt shame and he said yes.
I said to him that children don’t naturally feel ashamed....usually it is an adult that shames them.
The response from the child is to clothe themselves with shame which becomes as filthy garments. No matter how much anyone prays it is is up to the individual who has been shamed that needs to choose to take off these filthy garments. I asked Tom if any of that made any sense. He said yes. Next I asked Tom if as that little boy wearing shame he could come to meet Jesus standing at the cross and take of the clothes of shame and receive in exchange what Jesus wanted to give him. He said that he wanted to.
This he did.
At this point Tom looked different more open faced and was standing more upright. I asked Jesus to fill Tom with the Holy Spirit .
Afterwards Tom said he felt completely different as if a load had been lifted off of him and felt completely calm with no anxiety. Praise God.
All of the above was directed by the Lord. I came to Him at the start of the ministry time with no idea how it would progress. Yes, some of the elements mentioned I had done before. But as always this ministry time was unique . There were some tools that I have mentioned on this page before. But it wasn’t a formulae. The way to use these tools and the order of them just popped in my head as I tried to track what the Holy Spirit wanted to do and how he wanted to do it. Am I certain every time of what to do next...the answer is NO. But it is like taking a half step at a time ready to change course or direction at the inner prompting of the Holy Spirit.
I sense that as long as my motive is right ....to bless and facilitate the one who needs prayer ministry...to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit as far as I am able....and to not get in the way but to Submit God and give Him the Glory .....then I expect Him to act and direct what I need to do during the time of ministry.
Did Tom get healed up of everything he needed to be completely whole....No. But it would seem that Jesus met with him and bought freedom and healing to him for whatever he was willing to bring to Jesus in that session .
To God be the Glory
